سیفلیس چیست؟
سیفلیس یک بیماری منتقله از طریق جنسی است که مسئول اپیدمی های خطرناک می باشد. علت آن یک باکتری به نام تریپونماپالیدوم است. میزان سیفلیس اولیه و ثانویه در ایالات متحده آمریکا از سال 1990 تا 2000 میلادی به میزان 2/89 درصد کاهش یافته است. اگر چه میزان عفونت از 5979 مورد در سال 2000 به 6103 در سال 2001 افزایش یافت است. مرکز کنترل و پیشگیری بیماری در نوامبر 2002 اعلام کرد این اولین افزایش از سال 1990 به بعد می باشد.
سیفلیس چگونه منتقل می شود ؟
باکتری سیفلیس بسیار شکننده است و عفونت اغلب از طریق تماس جنسی با فرد آلوده منتقل می شود. باکتری از طریق زخم های اولیه که فرد آلوده به پوست، غشاء مخاطی نواحی تناسلی، دهان یا مقعد شریک جنسی غیرآلوده منتقل می گردد. همچنین از طریق پوست گسسته سایر نواحی بدن نیز منتشر می شود. به علاوه زنان باردار مبتلا به سیفلیس می توانند باکتری را به جنین خود منتقل نموده و نوزاد با مشکلات شدید مغزی و فیزیکی در نتیجه این عفونت، متولد گردد.
